long drive

Posted under by Jenn

The drive home yesterday took a little over 8 hours.  We left during the day and got caught in some afternoon lunch hour traffic while in Fresno on Hwy 99.  Then we got stuck in traffic behind several trucks on Hwy 46.  Then, I-5 people drove really wrecklessly and caused so many people to slam on their brakes so we wasted a ton of gas on I-5.  In the end, we were home, it felt good to be home.  It felt like we were gone a month and then our pets greeted us :)

A successful night…

Posted under by Jenn

After seeing my parents room last night- very immaculate.  The drapes open and close with a push of a button.  The flat screen comes out of the floor by pushing a button.  There is a flat screen TV in the vanity area of the bathroom.  There is a small TV monitor by the toilet.

My Mom, Jason and I went downstairs to gamble a bit while my Dad was worn out and went to bed.  I sat at a quarter machine and within 20 mintues I had won 839 quarters which is over $200.  So, I cashed out at $201.50.  I put my winnings in my pocket.  I hardly ever win on the strip, normally a little here and there at the Station Casinos only.  Then, Jason and I said our good byes to my Mom and headed back to Green Valley Ranch (GVR).

Jason and I walked through the pool area to check it out and before Jason walked to turn in for the night.  I handed him $160 of my winnings and told him I was only going to bet on $40.00 and after that I would turn in.  3 hours later, I am still playing.  I didn’t anticipate betting on a penny machine.  Playing a penny machine is like playing a video game except it pays now and then and makes a whole lot of noise.  Eventually the penny machine takes all your money.  After losing $20 on the quarter machine I proceeded to play this “Green Acres” penny machine for over an hour.  Each time I won anything over $20, I printed the ticket out, put it in my purse, pulled out another $10 dollar bill and continued to play.  I finally left this machine at 2 am.   To my suprise at the Cashier counter, I had at least 8 tickets that totalled over $337 dollars.  This has been a successful night.  So, I had $538.00 in my pocket from the same night and I went home with a positive $237.00

our last day at GVR

Posted under by Jenn

I hope to win some $$ today so I can leave Vegas on top with no losses.  I typically lose $$ at Vegas.  Except the last time was I was there back in early October.  I came back with a positive $239.00

Tonight Jason and I meet up with my folks for a little bit at the Wynn Casino (they are staying there- two comp nights- that’s a deal).  I guess they had lots of available rooms.  I have never seen the rooms at the Wynn.  The pool is amazing.  I saw the pool when the Wynn was first built back in 2005 while on a girl’s only weekend with my friends.  My friends and I ate at the Cafe’ which has super yummy Eggs Benedict and BLT’s.  We had a view of the pool, the cabanas, the lounging areas, the interior view – it was immaculate with all the detail, paint, sculptures etc. Anyways, I can’t wait to see my folks room and their view.

GVR

Posted under by Jenn

Jason and I will be staying at Green Valley Ranch on Saturday night and Sunday night.  I have stayed there a couple of times with my folks.  The rooms are really nice.  The place is lavish.  Not as lavish as The Venetian- on the strip.  That is a totally different level of luxury. :)

Hopefully we can get an early check in.

Last minute booked show

Posted under by Jenn

Yes, another show tonight.  I saw this show last year with my friend Jennifer, Cirque De Soliel- “Mystere”.  My Mom got this coupon for Nevada residents only.  Jason and I can go for only $117.  It’s not a 2 for 1 price but it’s a great price.  I am excited to see it again.  Plus, if I have a different seating section of the theatre I will see the show from a different angle.  Plus, if I missed something the first time, I can see it for the first time, the second time around (does that make sense)?

Jason has never seen this show and I was really bummed that he didn’t have the opportunity to watch it last year with me.

Vegas Shows

Posted under by Jenn

Tonight Jason and I will be attending a Vegas Show on the strip called La Reve which is playing at the Wynn Casino.  It’s a water show.  We have great seats, 3rd row from the front.  The ticket office mentioned that 1st through 3rd row tend to get splashed.

Jason and I are really excited to see this show.  Aaahh the benefits of my parents being residents of Henderson, NV.  2 for the price of 1.

Turkey Day

Posted under by Jenn

I haven’t had my Mom’s turkey recipe for at least 6 years.  It was super yummy.  I also don’t think that I have ever seen my Mom make a turkey that small- 13 lbs.  Back when my folks lived in California, she would make turkey every Thanksgiving for our large get together and she would make at least a 21 lb turkey.  So, we totally scarfed down this turkey in 2 days between 6 of us.

My Mom made all the fixings too- mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean caserole, cranberry sauce, even homemade Pecan Pie for me (my favorite) and homemade Cherry Pie for my brother (his favorite).  It was a very relaxing and super fun Thanksgiving time in Las Vegas.

We made it!

Posted under by Jenn

We made the trek in under 7.5 hours.  I was a screaming demon on 4 stretches of highways before I traded off with my conservative husband.  We probably could have made it in 6 hours with my driving.  But we made it safe and that is all that is important.

I just found out that my Mom made my brother and I our favorite pies.

Mine- Pecan

My brother’s favorite- Cherry.

Parent’s are the best during the holidays.  I love them.

Successful Party Lite and Park Lane Party…

Posted under by Jenn

My combined party today was a success.  I have a $400 show for Party Lite and a qualifying $175 show for Park Lane.  I just need to wait for my rep to let me know about all the free shopping I get to do.  Oh boy.  :)    I made a wish list through each catalogue and pretty much both lists will be free.  Yippee!
