Don’t you hate it when you go to the Doctor (female question only) for your yearly annual check up. Your doctor has been called into doing a baby delivery last minute and your appointment will need to be re-scheduled? This is the first time it has happened while I am waiting to see her but I am more than willing for this to happen again. I am going to the check up so my RX can be filled for another year. The nurses ask what my reason for today’s visit, I state “for my annual and to reset my refills”. The nurses ask “are you due” and I said “I think I have one re-fill left”. The nurses remark with “since you are here, and the doctor got called out and you are willing to re-schedule 2 months out (at the earliest), we can send you home with some free samples (my RX)”. I nod saying “that’s great”!. One of the nurses come back with a beaming smile stating “here is a 6 month supply”. I am amazing and very thankful as I leave.
Bottom line: 6 months equals over a $120 savings. Even though my appointment got moved, everyone is happy.

Today, amidst of packing my stuff for tonights flight, my Mom enters the room and asks if I want to go to lunch. I grimace and asked “can we just eat here today”. My Mom asked “what do you want”. I said “anything, as long as we stay home to eat”. I love going out to eat. But we have gone out a lot lately and I just want a home cooked meal. She asks “what do we eat”. I suggest “rice, sauteed shrimp, mangos and tomatoes”. Her eyes brim up and she says “yes”. To me, that is comfort food.

Today is the day to go to all the casinos and pick up the “free gifts”. We went to Palms, the Silverton, Green Valley Ranch and finished off a Fiesta. Each place visited while Mom picked up the gifts, I won at least $20. I wish I had won considering the $$ lost on this visit ($300). Boo Hoo!
We ate dinner using my Mom’s 2 for 1 buffet coupon at Fiesta. I always thought the food was good. Last time I ate there it was under different management and it was not called Fiesta. Dinner was ok, the only great item there was the snow crab- really good. The rest was blah. I didn’t eat any salmon, prime rib or BBQ ribs. Maybe that was my short coming to the disappointing meal.
Headed home with our free gifts, $$ won and good spirits.
I head home tomorrow, I better print out my boarding pass.

Hollywood thus far has been a great visit….
Wed:
Arrive and visited with my cousin.
Went to Steve & Barry’s store and bought some really cute clothes from Sarah Jessica Parker’s line called “Bitten”. All items were only $8.98 a massive sale. I bought 3 t-shirts.
Walked around Melrose Avenue- ate a yummy burger at Johnny Rockets.
Thurs:
Slept in- so needed it after last night’s incident (see previous entry).
Left my cousins place with her, my Mom and I- headed over for an afternoon spent at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. Had a picnic following the Reagan tour. The Reagan Library was amazing but we needed one more full day to really soak it all in. Maybe next time Mom.
Ate dinner at one of the little eateries within this place situated off Farmer’s Market Blvd. below “The Grove”. We never made it to “The Grove”.
Back at my cousins place my Mom and cousin made this Philippino soup called Sinigang. They started to make the sinigang at 11:30 am. We finally ate it over rice around 2 am. Yes, we are insane but it was sooooo good.
Friday:
Slept in again….. sooo relaxing.
Left to go to Steve & Barry’s store again to buy more “Bitten” items.
Went site seeing:
Drove through Vietnamese Town, Korea Town, China Town. Went to “Santee Alley”- basically two long streets of flea market type “knock off” products. I bought 2 cute ballet slipper/mary jane type shoes from the brand called “SODA” for $14.99. I saw some really adorable “faux Coach purses” but declined. We all munched on some really yummy fresh coconut meat and bought a coconut to take home. So good!
After Santee Alley, we were starving and in need of some good oriental food. We drove back to Hollywood and ate at this yummy Thai place which I can’t remember nor spell. Next to it was a food mart owned by the same owners of the Thai Restaurant. We bought some authentic food products.
Went back to my cousins to “freshen up” and change into night time attire. Jeans, long sleeves (it was windy) and tennis shoes. We were going to walk the streets and check out the “stars”. Mom found Elvis.
Went to Mann’s Chinese Theatre and looked at all the famous people cement squares, put our feet in theirs, put our hands in theirs and just read. I reminisced about the Jackie Chan movie “Rush Hour” the first one. We saw characters from movies like “Jason”, “Chuckie”, “Spider Man” and Johnny Depp from “Pirates of the Carribean”.
We walked the route that the stars walk all the way up through the Hollywood & Highland (mall) staircase all the way up to the entrance of the Kodak Theatre. This Hollywood & Highland Mall is 4 stories tall, inside/outside type mall, filled with stores, restaurants, fast food, little snacks. We even had a pitstop for my cousin, she was craving a Crepe filled with Nutella, strawberries and bananas. SO GOOD! Topped with with whip cream and powdered sugar.
Walked around some more, looked at the lit up Hollywood sign by the giant cross on the Hollywood Hills.
Finally headed back to her place- such an eventful day.
Tomorrow we leave to go home. It has been fun. I loved hanging out with her 14 year old male black cat with green eyes “Minky”.

My Mom and I arrived in Hollywood today to visit with my cousin. While she was off providing a massage to one of her clients, my Mom and I walk over to Johnny Rockets on Melrose Avenue for dinner. She was craving a hamburger with grilled onions. The dinner was great, I felt rejuvenated and hydrated. On our walk back to her place (approx 10 blocks), I noticed a weird sensation in my abdomen. It felt like an extra heart beat. At first, I checked my pulse, it was fast (I figured from walking briskly), I know that I consumed a lot of water with my meal and maybe the water was all jiggling around in my tummy. So, we continued to walk. Then, I noticed my back was cramping and tightening up. I checked my pulse again and this time I noticed my Mom was looking at me and asking if I was alright. My pulse was super fast at this point, it was off rhythm and I immediately knew what I had. We were in an unfamiliar neighborhood, no car, approx 3 blocks from my cousins street and my cousin was at work. I walked slower, tried to control my breathing, tried to bear down to bring my heartbeat down naturally- no luck. My breathing was all over the place, my Mom’s face was grieve stricken and I didn’t want to worry her anymore than needed. I told her I could make it to Rochelle’s place. Back when this happened BEFORE , I knew the time constraint I was up against until my body will start to shut down. I basically had 10-15 minutes but who really wants to put themselves in that predicament. This experience was far different than the first one, regardless I needed 911 help right now! I had to periodically stop for a few seconds while I tried to massage the cramps out of my back. It caused my breathing to be increased and I knew that I didn’t want to panic. As I approached my cousins place, I took my Mom’s phone and dialed 911. Told the ambulance my symptoms, that I had SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia) before and where I was located. I waited at the curb for the ambulance to arrive. Within 5 minutes they were at the curb asking me questions. I hopped into the ambulance- totally coherent and immediately was seated on the stretcher. I don’t hate needles because they alleviate pain so fast and efficiently. I just hate the initial pinch. Strapped up and guessing my heart rate of 190…. NOPE it was 237- YIKES! I hate the feeling of being controlled by something I have no control over. After getting hooked up for an EKG, the print out shows this crazy heart beat across 4 pages. So, I have my pic line in, ready for the drug…… adenosene or however you spell that, I am not a med student. So….. before that is administered, I have to blow into a syringe for as long as possible until my face turns red to see if I can try to bring down my heart beat naturally. Do you know how hard that is to do? First, of all I already feel weak, secondly, I have to blow into a syringe that has no output until I can’t blow anymore. It’s like blowing up balloons for a party and after 10 balloons you feel like passing out, keeling over, rolling over, trying to take a deep breath. I can not take a deep breath at this point. I stop after 20 seconds. Finally, the drug comes. I am not addicted to this drug, it will just make me feel hell, like I am dying, my energy diminishes, my eyes close like I am going to pass out but it will make everything normal when it’s all over. If my hands and arms are my exit holes to life, then all my energy, my life feels like it is being drained out through my arms and hands. It’s a very bizarre feeling. Within 30 seconds, my heart rate is returning to normal rhythm. Finally, I stop sweating, my breathing becomes normal and I get the green light that I am ready to be shipped for follow up.
Guess where I am headed…..? Yep, you are right, Cedar Sinai Hospital. The paramedic personnel were so awesome, so nice, and in a good joking humor. I don’t cover up humor with pain or anguish. I joke when I am feeling good. I am feeling SO MUCH better and so I CAN joke at this point. I just need a follow up consultation and more tests to ensure I can go home tonight. I call my husband on the way to inform him of my incident and to assure him I am ok and just need a check up. I call my cousin to let her know where I am at.
My blood test, my EKG follow up, my discussion with the doctor- GREEN LIGHT…. time to go home.
Whew, I am so exhausted and ready for bed. What a night!

So Jennifer and I went out to dinner with Matt while he’s in town for a work function. Jennifer, Matt and I went out to dinner at The House of Blues in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last night. We were having good conversations and a great dinner talking about life, work, MJ, and people we hate. Good Times! After dinner, Matt was kind enough to get the bill and treat us for dinner. It wasn’t just dinner, we had an appetizer and cocktails. Afterwards, we walked around, sat down and had one of those really yummy 99 cent hot fudge sundaes from McDonalds.
He even walked Jennifer to her car. So nice!
It was great to see Matt, life in Boulder Colorado will be good for him.
