It’s Leland Way Neighborhood’s 1st Bunco Night. It was really difficult to find 12 people to start playing Bunco in my neighborhood. I am the host for tonight and since it’s our first one, it’s very casual. No prizes, no $10 fee per person- just appetizers and drinks/wine and 10 people who don’t know how to play. This will be the starting point to see if the people invited want to do this once a month. It’s about to begin in 2.5 hours and I can’t wait for it to get loud, ladies yelling, bells dinging, drinking wine, eating snacks and having a good time or hopefully they have a good time
. The great thing about this is, if it’s a thing to have once a month then the house will rotate but the people coming should stay the same. I am informing the ladies that since a minimum of 12 people are needed to play, if a person is unable to attend, it’s their obligation to find a sub. Seems reasonable?

Trader Joe’s grand opening date is Friday March 30th, 2007. I have been waiting so long for the opening of this new store. An overlooked “great” thing- the parking lot. It’s massive, the spots are everything but compact. The parking lot is shared with a furniture store that maybe has 5 customer’s throughout a given day.
The Pleasanton- Trader Joe’s parking lot is less than to be desired. The spots are all compact, it’s in a strip mall with 11 other stores, it’s next to the packed on ramp for 580 East, door dings are a given and it’s unavoidable no matter how straight one parks in a spot. It’s CRAZY, it drives me nuts and I can’t wait for this store to open.Â

Jason and I are getting a late start on planting our garden this year. It doesn’t really matter because we don’t sew any seeds. We plant the little sprouts which grow rather quickly.Â
We love planting dill, cilantro, taragon, oregano, flat leaf parsley, lots of sweet basil, jalapeno peppers, sweet peppers, yellow pear tomatos, sweet cherry 100 and Roma tomatos.Â
Gardening is so fun and so fulfilling especially once the produce starts coming in

There has been a recall on pet food called “menu foods”. This food is ordered online. I don’t know all the facts, I briefly heard it on the news last night and this morning on my way to work. 15 cats and 1 dog have died in recent months due to kidney and liver failures. So, they have recalled the pet food and ceased orders online. I wonder how many more pets have to die for owners that are not aware of the recall? It’s really sad. It showed all these cute dogs and cats on TV. I don’t know if these animals were suffering but they all looked really sad. I wonder what was in the food that caused such damage. Did you know that some dog food uses saw dust as a filler? Saw dust is used in cheaper brand dog foods and it actually lists it as one of the last ingredients. After I watched the news last night, I went to Walmart to get dog food and I was reading the ingredients and some things I did not recognize as a food item and then I read saw dust in food as some of the ingredients. SCARY! Well, it doesn’t matter because we buy only Iams, Pedigree, Purina and Ol’Roy for our “Dusty”. Now, that I think about it, I should check the ingredients for “Peanut’s” food. She is not a picky eater and actually only eats cheap food like “Special Kitty”. Does anyone know about the ingredients in “Special Kitty”?

“The Host” was a great movie, sad in parts, the graphics were good except for one or two scenes. Juli and Gina can vouch for me on this opinion. You should watch this trailer http://www.apple.com/trailers/magnolia/thehost/ .
I have never been to the Tower Theater but it’s definitely one to save. If any of you have been to the Tower Theater then go to www.savetowertheater.com. Sunday Matinees are a screaming deal here, only $5.
I don’t think there is a matinee anywhere in Livermore or the Bay Area for $5, I will have to do some research.
I had a great time visiting with Juli, Gina and Pete yesterday afternoon. We then ate at Tower- YUM! No Poh Pias, no dessert, no corn chowder. I had the Egg Tower- eggs benedict with tomato and country potatoes- yum, full of fat and it tasted devine.

When visiting my parents in Henderson, NV, I really enjoy the time for rainfall. Their backyward overlooks the view of the strip. There is such a hazy cloud lingering over the strip from all the pollution from cars, cigarettes, planes, etc. After the rainfall has ceased, the strip is clear. It isn’t too long (the very next day) that the pollution cloud seems to find it’s nesting grounds again.
So, in turn, the air quality seems rather poor in the bay area and I am anticipating the rainfall this week

I am going up to Sacramento. This will be the second time in a week. CRAZY! I went up to Sac on Tuesday night for a quiz night in Folsom. This was to visit with my friend Juli, Szabo, Jennifer and Matt. Now, I am up to going to Sacramento in about 8 hours. Juli, Matt and a few others that I had invited but not yet heard from, are meeting at Tower Theater to watch “HOST” a sci fi Korean flick. It’s my first big screen foreign flick with sub titles. I own Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, it still has the cellophan and it is a VHS, yes a VHS. Geez! I only own one VHS machine now.
After the movie- yep- you guessed it lunch at Tower Cafe. I have to make sure I don’t order the Corn Chowder- recipe has changed and not for the better. I have to make sure I don’t order the German Chocolate cake- it is less than to be desired and looks better in the case rather than on my plate or in my mouth. This is the first time I am bashing Tower but what can I say, you expect the same quality everytime and every restaurant has their slip ups or their down time when the quality isn’t quite there. Maybe I should go for the Poh Pia’s or the Thai Chicken wings,, their soup of the day (it’s a bowl of sauce), and definitely dessert.
I am looking forward to tomorrow because I am seeing a movie that I just recently purchased but yet to see. I am seeing it on the big screen, this is exciting.

Being honest? Should we question this or just do what comes naturally? It’s a thought that comes to mind when I get engaged in a conversation that strikes my interest or questions my morals. Should I hold back or just let the bulls ride?
Being honest is a skill that most people hold within themselves with the fear of what other people will think?
My philosphy….. let them have their opinions, let them think what they like. If an individual has enough balls to bring up the subject in mixed conversation then one should not hinder the thought of being brutally honest.
But….
Do not think too much about what you should or shouldn’t do and think more about the person you are talking to and how that person will convey your message, your thoughts, your intentions.
I just realized that this post is a lot to digest on a Saturday morning.

Listening to Alice 97.3 in the bay area on Monday on my way to work and I hear about a woman having a supernumerary boob on the bottom of my foot. As “no name” describes the “half ass news” for the day, I start to crack up and decided I would look up this article to see if there was a picture attached. Sure enough there was…..
