cream soda

May 30th, 2007 -- Posted in | 12 Comments »

A friend of mine wrote a blog commenting on Virgil’s Black Cherry Cream Soda.  So, I went searching for it online and I pondered upon this site:  http://www.popsoda.com/creamsodas.html

If you like cream sodas, this is the place to shop to seek the varietals.  Of course I would not ordered unless I got a discount in bulk from this site but it allows one to see all the different kinds of cream sodas.  Drink Up!

a home away from home…….

May 28th, 2007 -- Posted in | 1 Comment »

So, in March, I had finished my cat, Peanut’s scrapbook.  Well, every scrap booker needs to start somewhere.  So, I started with my cat- the scrapbook is called “Peanut’s Life”.  It turned out really cute and I started to get a taste for scrapbooking.  Then, I did a smaller picture book that my cousin Stephanie gave me.  It was from my bridal shower.  I just touched up some of the pictures and provided a little embellishments.

So, on Sunday night, I sorted out my Sacramento- college, roommate, ski club photos.  I found the album I was going to use, I sorted my colored 12×12 paper, 8×8 paper and my embellishments.

Yesterday afternoon around 1 pm, I had prepped the house for Sheli and Jamee to come over and scrap book.  The first page is stamped with the words “A home away from home”……. and Sacramento written on the bottom.  This was truely a time of transition.  I mean, what do you call your home when you parents uproot and move their lives to Henderson, NV?  Your home, just moved, right?  So, I found a new home while I attended college at Sacramento State.  Organizing photos is very time consuming but also so much fun.  It makes your brain work to recollect memories to figure out the order of these photos.  So, the album starts in 2000, when I moved into River Park (a little neighborhood across from Sac State off of J Street) and finishes with my moving out of my house on Stingray Court.  Note- pictures are sorted, the album is not done yet.  It can take a ton of hours to get a scrapbook completed.  I am just coordinating the pages with the photos, cutting the photos and adhering them to the pages.  Embellishments will come at a later date.  I want to get some of my pictures done before Jason L, Jason and I attend Dale’s b-day party in Elk Grove on Saturday (old ski clubbers).  This should be a fun scrap book to do.

My next scrap book will be for my parents.  A scrapbook of my wedding.  I want to learn as many tricks as possible so I can put it all in my parents scrapbook.  :)

the fam

My get together on Sunday early evening was a blast.  I got to visit with my cousin Stephanie, Byron, Linnsey, Lynn, Loring, Rocky and my second cousins: Madeline, Isabella, Jameson, Aidan, Maya and my Aunt Jo.

While I got to my cousin Stephanie’s place around 4:30 pm- she was prepping Spaghetti with her homemade sauce and homemade caeser dressing (YUM).  Her Mom arrived and starting prepping the Phillipino stew called Sinigang.  So good!  Then, we all stuffed ourselves silly and chatted up a storm.  About an hour and a half later, it was time to eat an authentic dessert- Halo Halo (translates to mix mix).  Which is a concoction of shaved ice, a small amount of evaporated milk, regular milk, and preserved fruits in syrup.  It super cold, super sweet and Super good.

This get together with “the fam” was a little going away party for my Aunt Jo and her daughter Linnsey that will be spending 4 months in the Phillipines.

Cheap, good eats

May 26th, 2007 -- Posted in | 1 Comment »

I keep forgetting to go to Costco to get a slice of pizza, or a churro, or a mocha latte freeze or a frozen berry parfait.  A hot dog and a soda is still only a $1.50.  A slice of pizza is $1.50.  These are cheap eats and the food is tasty.  Especially a slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza.  :)  My friend Sheli and I went to Costco after work on Friday.  We both were able to leave work relatively early and then venture out on the freeway with everyone else that left early :( An mere hour later, we were getting rid of our shakes from lack of food by indulging in pizza a mocha latte and splitting a ginormous churro :)  While in College, a Costco should have been closer to campus.

updates in my life

MY DAD IS IN REMISSION!!!!!!  No words can describe the joy, the anxiety, the breath of relief I get when I see this in writing and when I scream it outloud!  I love you DAD and MOM. oxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox  This past week, waiting for results from a PET scan has been brutal.  Even though my Mom and I live 500 apart from each other, it must be our psychosymatic ituition that caused us to have a stress rash around our necks, one day apart from each other.  We didn’t talk that we had it until after we started to see it go away and this was after the results came in stating that my DAD IS IN REMISSION!!!!!!

The kitchen demo has started.  We had an in home kitchen estimate last week which was very expensive approx $31K which didn’t include the buffet cabinet/counter top, electrical or plumbing.  This option is out but we will take most of their ideas.  One of our pre-existing ugly buffet countertop is 86′ed.  Jason demoed that when I went up to Sac last weekend. :) Bye Bye baby blue tile countertop :)  YIPPEE!

My side job of Mary Kay is off to a good start.  I have made over $150 in commission in the last 3 weeks.  Bringing anywhere from $150 to $400 a month in commission is my goal.  (insert note here) this is a side job :)

My Aunt and her daughter are leaving for the Phillipines on Tuesday for an undetermined amount of time.  I wish them the best in the search for___________?  Only they can answer that.  I hope they have a great undetermined visit to their homeland.

Livermore’s city wide garage sale is this weekend.  If you know me, then you know that I like garage sales, thrift stores to find someone else’s junk and my new treasure :)

Since working out, I have lost 10 solid pounds, this isn’t water weight.  I dropped a pant size and I am starting to feel great plus my energy is boosted.

My friend Jason bought a new car- a 2007 fiery red Mazda 3 (4 door).  I can’t wait to see it, maybe this weekend.  I know he is ecstatic without even asking him:)

My husband and I will be in search of a cabinet maker, plumber, electrician, styles of flooring, cabinets and countertops.  Just like picking out items for a wedding registry but I know this will be more fun with a lot more effort.

It is Friday and the start of a 3 day weekend.  Of course I am jumping for joy.  Only 5 hours left of work.  Woo hoo:)

Late night drive

May 21st, 2007 -- Posted in | No Comments »

After hanging out with Gina for close to 4 hours, I wanted to sleep in my own bed and get things done around my house in the morning.

I left Gina’s place at 12:50 am and got home at 2:20 am.  It was a dark, long drive home and I didn’t get tired until at least 2 am, once I knew I was getting close to home.  I had the car on cruise control set at 75 on Hwy 5 and no cops bothered me.  I thought for sure, I would need to set cruise control to at least 70mph.  I couldn’t go over 75 because I have a distressed tire with a nail in it.  Jason had patched it up Saturday before I made the venture up to Sac.

I was exhausted on early Sunday morning.  I got some things done - grocery shopping, cleaning, ya know, the mandatory things before the start of a new work week.  I also came home to a partially demo of a kitchen.  Jason started removing all the cabinet doors off and removed the countertop next to the phone.  It added a lot more space and I am looking forward to next weekend.  More home improvement shopping, items to invest in and more contractors to make bids.

round up

May 20th, 2007 -- Posted in | 1 Comment »

I made my way up to Sac yesterday to make my round up and try to meet with all my friends.

First hand, I dropped by Jessica’s place to drop off some home party stuff they had bought and to see their new kitchen.  To my dismay, Jessica and I missed each other and I left the items on her porch and didn’t get to see her new kitchen :(.  I am bummed, maybe next time when they have their house warming party.

Then, I picked up Gina and we headed out to lunch.  I was starved by 2 pm.  We had lunch at this little hole in the wall on 21st somewhere before Capitol.  It was good.  It was nice outside and the perfect weather to sip on a Negra Modelo.  YUM!  Totally stuffed, we went back to Gina’s.  I helped her hang some of her new window treatments and it brought a lot of shade and hopefully will not get as hot in her apartment.

Then, I drove to Juli’s place to get a little more dressed up for dinner.  While waiting for Juli to get ready, I indulged myself in some tastings off her two cherry trees.  I need to go cherry picking this month (maybe on saturday- note to self here :)).  While Juli was getting ready, Jenn arrived and we headed out the door.

It was Kristy’s b-day.  So, it was Juli, myself, Jenn, Lisa and Kristy.  La Dip Fondue (www.ladipfondue.com) is situated in the same parking lot as BJ’s in Folsom but all the way at the other end of the parking lot.  It’s a little bit pricey but well worth the effort if it’s only once in a great while.  It was $40.00 per person including tax and tip.  It was a 4 course menu which included a cheese appetizer, salad, the main course and of course- CHocolate!  We were there almost 2.5 hours and were very stuffed on the way out.

Well, Kristy wanted to do something she has never done before and wanted to go to Centerfolds.  Well, I knew that centerfolds on a Saturday night off Hwy 50 is women only and I had no desire to go.  I had just met Kristy and Lisa that night (Juli and Jenn’s friends).  So, the 4 of them went off to experience Centerfolds.  I on the other hand went to pick up Gina at a party and to hang out.  We were going over old memories, playing with her new adorable cat- Bella and hung out.  We hung out for over 3 hours and didn’t play any DDR! :)

no alcohol, no drama

May 14th, 2007 -- Posted in | No Comments »

Yesterday was the first Mother’s Day that I spent on my husband’s family where the infamous drunken drama queen wasn’t there.  It was equally spent with everyone being the center of attention at one point.  Not, this drunken drama queeen was the center of attention all the time, causing chaos, disruptions, swearing, kids screaming, crying, blubbering etc.  It was calm, relaxing, a time to enjoy everyone’s company.

9th year at KFOG

May 13th, 2007 -- Posted in | No Comments »

I can’t believe it 9 years.  Every year a new person gets added to the mix.  4 years ago Szabo’s sister Beth went with Jason and I along with some other friends.  3 years ago Jaime and Lehrbaum were the newbies.  Note- not all newbies make it back the following year for their own personal reasons.  Last year was my friend Juli and Jennifer.  This past year was Gina.  We all had a blast.  This year it was (follow the J’s)- Jason, myself (Jenn), Juli, Jenn, Gina, Jennifer, Jason L, Todd, Age and Tim (whew).

Always new food was introduced with the venues.  Jason (my husband) and I indulged in fried artichoke hearts sprinkled with parmesean cheese, with a crab louis dipping sauce.  It was divine.  Then, we ate a crab and shrimp stuffed artichoke with a crab/shrimp louie sauce.  YUM!  That was just the appetizer and it isn’t too filling.  Later on we shared a large polish sausage with carmelized peppers and onions. That did me in :)

The aftermath, no one was in the mood for soccer.  First of all there were no pineapples to kick around that had red marguerita juice flowing through it to get all over Jenn’s legs, white shoes and white socks :)  No one wanted to intercept my full pepsi bottle as the ball.

The fireworks were great, smiley faces again.  Newest fireworks was a 3 dimensional box.  CRAZY!

Took our tired asses and walked an extra mile out of the way to ensure we got a seat on Bart and went home.
